Semester One (1)
PGDPM 101 Theories and Approaches to Project Management
By the end of this course, the students will be able to:
- Identify the various theories in project management
- Identify the various approaches to project managements
- To put into practice the different theories and approaches to project management
PGDPM 102 Practical Project Planning, Design and Implementation
By the end of this course the learner should be able to:
- Do project identification
- Set specific project objectives
- Select the right materials for project implementation
- Identify implementation problems and possible solutions
- Organize and manage the project
PGDPM 103 Resource Mobilization
By the end of this course the learner should be able to:
- Under Fundraising and various techniques
- Know the role of the board and CEO
- Develop your own resource mobilization strategy and manage it
- Develop Key Messages
- Select resource mobilization vehicles
- Monitor resource mobilization activities
PGDPM104 Data Collection and Analysis Techniques
By the end of this course, the students will be able to:
- Identify types of data
- Select data collection methods
- Make consideration on guide method of selection
- Develop data management and analysis plan
- Identify and pilot selected data collection tool.
PGDPM 105 Special Interest Group Rights in Project Management
By the end of this course the students will be able to:
- Write gender responsive project proposals
- Carry out gender analysis
- Know how to integrate gender in their projects
- Come up with policies that aim at gender mainstreaming in projects
- Know the challenges facing gender mainstreaming
- Conduct ender responsive evaluations
PGDPM 106 Environmental Impact Assessment
By the end of this course, the students will be able to:
- Explain the meaning of Environment, ecology and ecosystem as applied in project planning and management.
- Describe the role of Environmental Impact Assessment within projects in Zimbabwe (your country).
- Underline the historical development of environmental education
- Explain the relationship between environment, development and population growth.
Semester Two
PGDPM 107 Theories and Practical issues in Monitoring and Evaluation
By the end of this course, the students will be able to:
- Establish the various theories associated with monitoring and evaluation
- Establish the various approaches associated with monitoring and evaluation
- To establish how these theories and approaches work in practical situations
PGDPM 108 Monitoring and Evaluation System Design
By the end of this course, the students will be able to:
- Layout project designs to the interested stakeholders
- Provide guidelines for M & E value chain project
- Differentiate value chain project and traditional for M & E
- Determine potential clients of the M & E System
- Understand the overall project goal and purpose
PGDPM 109 Training and Curriculum development
By the end of this course, the students will be able to identify:
- Types of training
- Foundation of training
- Principles of learning program design and development
- Training need assessment (TNA)
PGDPM 110 Conflicts and Resolution Analysis
By the end of this course the learner should be able to:
- Understand Conflict
- Identify types of conflict
- Effects of Conflict
- Conflict resolution and conflict management skills
PGDPM 111 Statistical Computing
By the end of this course, the students will be able to:
- Create and manipulate data in SPSS
- Capture data in SPSS
- Save a data file
- Import a data set from other file formats eg spreadsheets, dBASE, Tab-deliminated and other types of SCII text files, SYSTAT, etc
- Open an existing SPSS data set.
- Data management
- Discuss descriptive statistics in SPSS
- Do a Mini project
PGDPM 112 Research Project (Dissertation)
PGDPM 113 Entrepreneurship & Project Development
Entry Requirements
- Applicants should possess at least 5 Ordinary level subjects including English Language and or A level.
- A first degree in any field is a must.
- Work experience in a relevant field will be an added advantage
